Dear Parent or Guardian: This school year, your child will receive Personal Health and Safety Education as required by the CPS Sexual Health Education Policy. The purpose of this education is to build a foundation of knowledge and skills for all students so that they can make the right choices for themselves now and in the future. This curriculum will begin mid March of this school year. Your child will be receiving an official letter from the school stating the specific lessons that will be covered on a grade by grade basis. More details about what your child will learn can be found under "Parent/Guardian Resoures" on the CPS website
The Orozco Academy Holiday Show is now available on our website! You can watch it here or on our Videos Section. Orozco Academy Presents: Holiday Afternoon ShowDecemeber 20, 2023 Students K-8th grade are learning about Bullying Prevention and Awareness through the Second Step curriculum. Friday (Dec 1st) is a Free dress down day and students can wear orange to show their solidarity and support of bullying prevention. Now that it is getting cold I wanted to quickly address how decisions are made on recess. CPS gives principals discretion down to 15 degrees, but to be safe I make the cut off at 20 degrees. This includes wind chill. In addition to that, a staff member always walks the playground right before recess to determine if the conditions of the playground are sufficient for safe play. Given that today's temperature could be below 20 degrees during recess there will be indoor recess today; the rest of the week is currently showing above 20 degrees so hopefully we can return to outdoor recess tomorrow. If you need help getting winter clothing for your child, please message Principal Sovell on ParentSquare. Article on why students need to get outdoors, even in winter. (As long as it is safe) ¡Buen día!
