Michelle Carrillo is proud to be the Kindergarten teacher at Orozco Academy. She went to Roosevelt University for her Bachelor’s Degree in Latino Studies and received her Master of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from Saint Xavier University with Bilingual, ESL and Gifted Endorsements. Mrs. Carrillo has also been an Adjunct Professor at Saint Xavier University for Bilingual Teachers in the summer .
She has been a classroom bilingual teacher for 16 years. She began her career as a 2nd grade teacher for two years at Columbia Explorers Academy. Mrs. Carrillo then took a leap of adventure and moved overseas to Germany with her husband, as he served in the US Army. While overseas, she worked as a Preschool teacher at the Child Development Center in Vilseck, Germany. Once she returned to the states, she became a Kindergarten teacher and has been ever since. Mrs. Carrillo had the most awesome and honorable experience of beginning the very first Kindergarten classroom at Orozco Academy. She loves Kindergarten so much that she keeps learning all about new things to bring to her classroom. She will ALWAYS say that her students are her Heroes!! It is true that she learns from them each and every day!! Mrs. Carrillo also loves to be a Super Mom of 4, with a Super Hero Husband and has a dog named Special Agent “Oso”!
