Efraín Martínez (Website) is the proud principal at Orozco Academy. As a member of the inaugural class of Chicago Teaching Fellows, he began his education career as a high school Spanish teacher. After a two year stint, he found his niche teaching primary and middle school students. Consequently, he ended up teaching for six years and then was promoted to Assistant Principal at Jungman Elementary and Bateman Elementary. Since 2015, he has been blessed to work with the extraordinary Orozco Community of students, teachers, parents, and other important stakeholders.
Mr. Martínez holds a Bachelor of Arts from California University of Pennsylvania, a Master of Arts from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and a Master of Education from the American College of Education. In the summer of 2017, he embarked into on a new journey as a doctoral student in Educational Leadership at National Louis University.
Mr. Martínez is married to the most amazing woman who happens to be an Art Teacher in the Pilsen area. They have two beautiful children who attend a Chicago Public School. Together, they enjoy watching funny shows, reading, playing video games and always looking for ways to have fun!
